Saarbrücken City Guide
Saarbrücken’s cityscape preserves outstanding ensembles from the two formative epochs of the Baroque in the 18th century and the industrial age in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Since the post-war reconstruction in the 1950s, this has surrounded the continuous public and private building activity of modern urban development in the respective contemporary style.
The richly illustrated guide makes the eventful history of the Saarland, which was incorporated into the Federal Republic of Germany 50 years ago, tangible and particularly presents the historical building fabric, the artistic highlights of which are the gothic collegiate church and the baroque Ludwigskirche.
